REPRESENTATIVE MARK WILLIAMS NAMED DEPUTY WHIP OF MAJORITY CAUCUS

GEORGIA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

REPRESENTATIVE MARK WILLIAMS NAMED

ATLANTA—Georgia State Representative Barry Fleming (R-Augusta), Majority Whip, today announced that he has tapped State Representative Mark Williams (R-Jesup) to serve as Deputy Whip for the 2008 legislative session.

“The role of Deputy Whip is crucial in determining the leanings of the caucus and advancing our common-sense conservative vision for Georgia,” Fleming said. “Representative Williams will be valuable asset in this leadership position and I look forward to working with him in the coming months.”

Deputy Whips will each be assigned to track the thoughts and receive input from members of the Republican Caucus. When key legislation is presented for consideration on the House floor, Deputy Whips will assist the Majority Whip in gathering information about the leanings of caucus members.

“I am honored to accept this position and to work with my colleagues on the issues most important to Georgia,” Williams said. “Working together, we will make Georgia a better place to live and work.”
